A documentary film festival that is unique in the country and in the region, fARAD draws its identity from Arad’s positioning on the border, exploring diverse forms of cinematic representation of reality and modes of transcending formal and national boundaries.
Organized by an experienced team that includes programmers and producers of Making Waves, the Romanian film festival in New York, and of the Transilvania International Film Festival in Cluj, fARAD offers documentary, hybrid, and experimental films that have been recognized in recent major international festivals.
Among the novelties of the third edition is the launching of fARAD Laboratory, a unique creative laboratory destined to young documentary film professionals, to be developed throughout the Festival.
fARAD was founded in 2014 by the Romanian Film Initiative/Film ETC. Association (Corina Șuteu, Mihai Chirilov, and Oana Radu), under the artistic direction of Mona Nicoară, and is produced in partnership with 111 Film under the patronage of the Arad City Hall, through the Arad Municipal Culture Center.
