In Sweden, a country with a very liberal reputation when it comes to sex and gender equality, sex workers and their clients are under constant legal threat. In 2013 a Swedish tribunal awarded child custody to a father who had stabbed the children’s mother—simply because the mother had been a sex worker in the past. Ovidie, a former adult performer turned documentary filmmaker, follows this case that shook European public opinion in this shocking procedural thriller.
