fARAD 11: ACE!

fARAD International Documentary Festival returns this autumn with its 11th edition, to take place October 2-6, 2024 in the city of Arad, with a programe dedicated this year to sports, under the heading "ACE!"

"This year, fARAD is inspired by the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris, and focuses on documentaries that artistically explore the universe of sports, offering a different angle and contributing another perspective of sport culture to the spectator. The program will present films that highlight the athletic spirit through the efforts and achievements of sportsmen who have left their mark in boxing, gymnastics, fencing, football, volleyball, but also in chess or esports, along with a special spotlight on major tennis legends", notes fARAD artistic director Dimitris Kerkinos.

Festival program

Directors Julien Faraut (France), Tudor Giurgiu (Romania), Martina Moor (Italy/UK) will also join us for the screenings and conversations with the audiences. Check the festival calendar here

Public events will be complemented, as every year, by the fARAD Lab dedicated to emerging documentary filmmakers, which includes feedback sessions on the development projects of the invited participants offered by the festival guests, and an intensive practical workshop dedicated to the sound of documentary film as part of the creative vision held by Dana Bunescu, premier editor and sound designer in contemporary Romanian cinema.

For the past three year, fARAD invited a Romanian designer to create the festival poster. This year topic was visually translated by Robert Obert, visual artist and muralist, passionate about comics and urban arts and long term collaborator of Insula 42.

All screenings take place at Cinema Arta, Arad (2 Vasile Alecsandri St.)
Free admission
The screenings are presented in original version, with Romanian subtitles.
