Celebrated theologian John Hull went completely blind in 1983, following decades of painful sight deterioration. He recorded and examined his experience of falling into darkness on audiocassettes, which directors James Spinney and Peter Middleton illustrated with evocative visual fragments, re-enactments and vague, impressionistic imagery which renders the emotional complexity of Hull’s transition and condition.
