This exploration bordering on documentary, fiction, and experimental cinema is guided by the voice of an iconic nightlife figure, Luana Muniz, a transgender woman who passed away last year, and whose voice recites an experimental monologue written by another Brazilian woman, Clarise Lispector, who herself passed away 40 years prior. Obscuro Barroco is a film about the need for change inside us and in the world around us, and also a unique visual experience that dives into Rio de Janeiro’s urban jungle in search of nature’s infinite capacities for metamorphosis—including in the human nature.
