Piazza Vittorio is the largest Roman square and home to people from different communities – and also to great directors such as Paolo Sorentino and Matteo Garrone. Abel Ferrera presents this world with his independent and poetic vision, putting himself physically in play in the movie. A colourful, almost surreal world leaps forward to the screen through the interviews with immigrants, clochards, artists (Willem Dafoe among them), business owners and politicians, who narrate the story of the square and at the same time the story of a country in transition.
