Zoom Q&A with director Ruth Zylberman
Ruth Zylberman randomly picked a Parisian building she knew nothing about. For many years she led an investigation in order to find the former tenants of 209, rue Saint-Maur so she could recreate the story of this small human community during the Occupation. She found them in Paris and its suburbs, in Melbourne, New York and Tel Aviv. She filmed them along with the building and its stones, framing them as a living organism, so she could grasp the remnants of those broken lives.
